Welcome to the Wanayi Camo Company, where we want you to Look Like Land!

We are a family owned and run high quality, small batch, western camouflage and clothing company. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via email, text, or phone. We will try and get back with you within 24 hours on weekdays.

Why Wanayi Camo is different and better than the rest

At Wanayi, each of our trademarked camouflages utilize three basic and overriding pillars which we call D.A.M.N.  Here’s why:

Directional- Most camouflage patterns are non-directional. This is done so that the designer can allow the applier to maximize and utilize any and all portions of the fabric that the pattern is printed on without concern for the direction of the pattern. Put another way, other company’s patterns have no sky or ground reference. We understand why they do it, to save money, but we feel there is a better way.

Our patterns have a ground and a sky justification because that is what an animal would see. After all, that is what’s natural. Because of this, it is the most realistic representation of any of the environments that we depict in our camouflage patterns. When you wear our clothing, the bottom of the garment is the ground direction, while the top is the sky direction. Yes, it costs more to make it this way because we cannot simply splice pieces anywhere, but it is undoubtedly more realistic and natural looking. When every yard you can get closer to your animal counts, these details matter.

American Made- A majority of the camouflage clothing being produced today is being made in foreign countries. Why? To save money. Although we have no problem supporting anyone from anywhere by paying them competitive wages for quality products, we also believe that the American worker is the best worker and can produce anything that is being made in other countries.

Our clothing, like our camouflage patterns, are made in America, by American workers, with material purchased from American mills. Yes, it costs us more money to produce our products in America, but we value the American worker and value the fact that in the event of a problem, we can easily and quickly visit the production site (if necessary) and work with fellow Americans to solve any problem.

Natural- There are some good camouflage patterns out there. Many of them are based off of the eastern oak tree and other similar eastern hardwood leaves and barks. That’s great for the Eastern USA and they will work “pretty good” even out west. There are other patterns that are digital, or pixilated, and some that resemble kidneys, teardrops, or random amorphous amoebas. These patterns are said to be visually disruptive and use “disruptive coloration” while others utilize “disruptive digital pixilated patterns’ that are computer generated. They are also pretty good.

Pretty good is just that… it is not great, it is pretty good. Why look like a plant or tree that does not abundantly exist in the environment you are hunting? You will never match the habitat you are hunting if your basic concealment objects are wrong. We match the camo to the environment by using correct plant and tree leaves and barks in their correct seasonal colors as well as the most common and environmentally appropriate ground cover color tones.

Visually disruptive is not natural concealment, it is not really concealment at all. It is not made to blend in. It is made to create false edges to break up an individual’s outline.  Zebras have visually disruptive patterns on their hide. It is made to confuse a would-be predator, not fool them by creating a situation where they cannot be seen. Our camouflage is made to make you disappear, to blend in, to “Be Unseen”. The surroundings that your desired western big game lives in is natural, not digital, not disruptive, and likely not full of oak trees. Our camouflage has been painstakingly researched, created, improved, and improved, and improved, until it perfectly vanished in its given environment. If you are hunting pronghorn in the sagebrush flats, you should strive to look like the sage. If you are hunting elk in the dark timber, look like the dark timber. To do anything else is less than perfect. At the Wanayi Camo Company, we produce DAMN good stuff!

Our camouflage patterns can help get you those few extra yards closer that can often be the difference between success and failure. Going hunting in the Western United States can be very expensive. Even if you draw a tag, you likely have invested years of applying to get it. Why go hunting with a camouflage pattern that doesn’t reflect the nature of your destination? It just doesn’t make sense. You’ve spent a lot to get there, why not go with the most accurate camouflage pattern? That’s what we do at Wanayi, we make the best Directional American Made Natural Camouflage clothing.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to help hunters succeed in ethically harvesting wild game by making clothing and gear in America that will allow them to comfortably get closer to their quarry. We will do this by producing the highest quality directional and natural camouflage patterns and quality camouflage clothing at the lowest price possible. We will continually innovate our current and new camouflage patterns, continually update and add additional products to our clothing line, and introduce gear that will make your hunts more successful. We will create our clothing and camouflage patterns in the United States and use American workers to produce our products. We will not utilize artificial intelligence in the creation or sale of our products. We will partner with companies that share our love of hunting, conservation, and America.

Who we are

The father/son team of Phil and Luke are the owners of The Wanayi Camo Company. Having hunted the Western U.S for nearly sixty years combined, we became disenchanted with the lack of truly Western camouflage patterns that were made in the U.S.A. Almost none were nature-based in design elements. We felt that the camouflage being produced was simply not natural looking enough to really blend in to the specific Western environments. The few that were natural looking were largely based on Eastern U.S. hardwoods and becoming increasingly expensive. They were also made almost exclusively overseas. This didn’t make sense to us and we wanted to make a difference and give hunters a viable option. Years of research, tens of thousands of miles travelled for sample gathering/photographing, graphic designing, field testing, and getting outfitter and hunter input culminated in the creation of the Wanayi Camo Company. We strive to create camouflage clothing that allow hunters to be unseen. After all, not seeing is believing.

Our Camouflage and its uses

The Wanayi Camo Company was made so that you just have to worry about the wind. Choosing the right camouflage may seem easy, but it is not a decision that should be made quickly or without critical examination. Western tags have become dramatically harder to draw and drastically more expensive to buy. Waiting years for that “dream tag” or saving for years for that once in a lifetime hunt is now a reality that cannot be escaped. Once you have that coveted tag, it would be foolish to leave anything that you can control to chance. Why wear an oak leaf camouflage pattern on a hunt 1,000 miles away from the nearest oak tree forest? This is where the Wanayi Camo Company can help. We didn’t create our camouflage patterns from an office with a computer. We made it by going to different regions and cataloging plant types, photographing leaves and bark patterns, measuring the bark patterns for depth, taking light readings using a light meter, and taking samples of leaves, bark, and dirt back home. Our camouflage looks natural because it started with nature. We want you to stand out by blending in, to Look Like Land.

We specialize in producing the best natural western camouflage available anywhere and produce our own line of the finest and well thought out American made hunting clothing on the market. The Wanayi Camo Company is a family company. It is all about quality and as such, we don’t mass produce our garments overseas where someone else is doing their version of quality control. We inspect every garment before it is sold and stand by our products with a return and replace guarantee. Either Phil or Luke (the father/son owners of Wanayi) inspected, folded, packaged, and sent you your purchase. We release small batch limited quantities to assure each product meets our highest standards. So, if you want to know when we have the pattern you want in stock, join our mailing list (which we will not share) or check back periodically to see what’s new and available. Rest assured that as we grow, so will our production runs.

Artificial Intelligence Position

As an American start-up company coming into the outdoor apparel and camouflage industries, we will always be creating and innovating new products and updating our previously created ones. We are human owned and human run. Our copyrighted camouflage patterns were created by spending thousands of hours in the western USA and spending hundreds of hours to produce each pattern. Likewise, our clothing was developed through our own needs, expectations, and designs. They were then worn, altered, and redesigned as needed. It all came from us, hunters, hikers, humans. Therefore, we have refused to opt in to the ever growing and changing world of Artificial Intelligence, commonly referred to as AI. Although we have nothing against AI and do see its value in certain situations, we feel that to truly learn first-hand what our customers want and need, the best way to do this is through human interactions, old school talking and communicating in writing. We also believe that excessive use of AI can lead to dependence on AI which leads to decreased human intelligence. We have created a very comprehensive website that has tons of information about our products and by reading, it can answer most of the questions you may have about our product lines. But know that if you need to call, text, or email us, a real person that works solely for Wanayi will answer. It’s our job and you are why we exist in this field, so we want you to have access to us, not a computer algorithm and not someone that does not work directly for us.
